Hi

I have just got back froma 300 Mile roung trip to Glasgow and both my EPC & ESP light were on for most of the trip. :zx11:

After 15 miles the ESP & EPC lights came on after about another 30 miles the EPC light went out, then came back on after 5 miles, then went back out after 20 miles and so on for the next 100 miles till I got to Glasgow. The ESP light stayed on all the way down from when it came on. Stopping for a couple of minutes and turning the engin off did not reset the lights. On the way back both lights were off when I left but came on within 5 miles (NB car had been stopped for 4 hours). ESP light stayed on all the way back with the EPC light going on and off every so often. Each time the EPC light came on it felt like there was a small drop in power and when it went off there was a small power gain. Most of the trip was a steady 60-70mph, but a few miles were on country rads an in town. The speed and accelerator position did not seem to affect the whether the EPC light went on or off.

The car is a 2001 2.8v6 4 motion, has 73K on the clock and had the MAF repaced at 68K. Anyone go any ideas what is wrong with the car. I don't have access to VAGCOM

cheers

Andy

I had the exact same problem and my trusted mechanc said it was the blake light switch which is located on the break pedal.
I didn't believe him and took it to a VW specialist who put it on the fault reader and confirmed it was this.
It cost about £8 from VW and cured the problem.

Perform basic setting on throttle as first fault code would suggest?
