I have a 1999 A6 avant 2.4 v6 tiptronic auto which feels like it isn't changing gear properly. The gearbox changes down a gear far too easilly rather than accelerate in the current gear. Also pulling away is hardly exciting & dissapointing for a V6. The general performance when accelerating is also not what I hoped. I have been told by two mechanics that its the gearbox & not the engine, however I would like to query this. Could it be something to do with the MAF which is giving poor information to the engine management unit/gearbox. If I replaced it myself is it a straightforwrd job?
