Hi,
can anyone share any advice on this problem.. I parked my golf mk II up overnight. the next day, I appear to have no brakes.. Feels like all pressure has gone out of the brake pedal, no amount of pumping the pedal helps, and fluid levels are still fine-so no leaks. I don't know where to start.. faulty master cylinder? anyone got any opinions?

...I have just noticed that with the ignition turned off, the pressure seems to return to the brake pedal..

Hi, perhaps there is a vacuum leak, might be worth checking that out as the cheaper option to changing the master cylinder straight away.

has the car been serviced recently?is there a colour in the fluid,if so what?did you bleed the brakes yoursel-if so bear in mind each one has to be done individually

air lock in brake line is a possibility

Sounds like air in the lines. Mine did that when it had a leaky wheel cylinder.

with the ignition turned off

You mean with the engine not running.

You have air in the system.
