Hello all,
My friend has a passat 1.8 20v non-turbo with 90,000 on the clock. It is on a T plate.
It starts fine but after 30 or so miles the gearbox won't select 3rd or 4th. It's not the tip-tronic model so we can't try selecting it ourselves.
VW said it needs a new gearbox but it was taken to VW by a women (enough said) and they quoted over £1000! Was this a female thing or could it really cost that much? Does it really need a new gearbox?
Any ideas?
