T4 manual gear problems

Please can someone help!

Iv just bought my first t4 transporter which is great but i have 1 small problem.
When cold its very hard to select gear's no 1,3 but when it warms up its all good.
I have bin and spoke to a few people i know but i seem to get different answer every time! so hear i am to see if anyone can help and see if any of the answer's match.

The van is a 2.4d, 1994 build.

Hi You need to check for wear and then adjust the selector mechanism

Hi, when you say check for wear, do you mean where the selector mounts the gear box i.e the rubber ball and so on? also do you have any tips on adjusting?

Yes that is what i mean and the 2 screws holding the bracket tend to loosen

Thats a great help and a cheaper place to start. when i went to my local vw dealer they didn't seem to have much knowledge on the old t4 and from what i could see from the parts fiche its all bin super seeded with a complete change of the whole mech.

could you advise on a good repair manual/ guide?
