Golf plus noise

Just bought a golf plus 1.9tdi.
Never had a diesel or turbo before. Can anyone tell me if the noise from the engine/gearbox is okay? When I change gear there is a sort of whirring noise. This is just as I press in clutch and move up gears. Is it normal???:zx11:

It is not normal!
If the noise come when changing form 1-2 or 2-3 then this is known problem on GV+.

thanks for your reply. The car is just under 3 years old. I will take itto the garage and see if it is covered under warranty?? Is it a common problem?
