Hi, just bought an 18month old s line cabriolet. Just going through the stuff and havent got the plastic key tag. Rung the dealers and thay said that it isn't needed and that they don't do them anymore

I thought you needed them for replacement keys  and if so how do I go about getting one for my car? Thanks

go to the dealers, hand over lots of money (£150-200 i believe) and they plug in their diagnostic equipment and program/cut a new key to work with the immobiliser, remote central locking and ignition/lock barrels :)

welcome to the site ;)

if you are not desperate for it, then you can have a read around here, there are other/cheaper ways of doing it.

however, bottom line is that you dont need the tag :)

nice choice of car btw, i hope to join the s-line cab club later this year *crosses fingers*

a little off topic, but what engine did you go for?

I got the 2.0TDI s Line 140, in cosmic yellow and love it. Just sold an A4 1.9TDI SE.

sweet, the first of the "new" shape ones then. *dribble*

i doubt my budget wil extend quite that far, im looking at 05/55 plate b6 shape in either the 1.8T or the 2.5 tdi, but i'll settle for anything under around 3-4 years old with the right credentials.

i cant wait....

I also have a Audi 80 Cabriolet. It's a 1.8 and I find that diesel is more fuel efficient. which ever you get i'm sure you'll love it.
