new driver mk2 options

Hi there
i am looking to get a mk2 golf for my first car. i am 18 and just passed my test and am looking for advice on what mk2 model would be a good choice for a first car. i was thinking about the Ryder.....would this be a wise choice?
Also could anyone recommend a good insurance company for this car and my age?

i dont know if i can recomend the model for you to get, i started with a standard golf 1300 that may be a good start, as for the insurance company try this website it search's them all, www.confused.com (http://www.confused.com) that will find the cheapest for you
