hi. i am new to the forum.
i am wondering if anyone can help!

i have a 02 seat Alhambra, great car and i love it.
when the heater in the cabin is turned to cold
there is no problem, it is when it is turned to heat,
sometimes the heat does not come up and if it does
it is just warm, but worst of all the water level in the
engine drops and the car starts to boil after a long
run.
has anyone come across this problem
cheers
joe

Sounds like you have a leak in the matrix or an air pocket somewhere. Try bleeding / flushing the cooling system.

the fun will be getting the matrix out.

Hi before you start pulling the matrix out which is the last thing you want to do, is check the thermostat, and the water pump,(poor circulation)What engine temp have you when the heater is on cold and what engine temp have you when the heater is on warm.Does the cooling fan activate when the engine is hot.Are the radiator hoses hard when the engine is warm.

Please don't think I was suggesting pulling it all apart! Kenney is dead right, though. Lots to investigate before pulling the while thing to pieces.....

hi
i had trouble with my cabin heater but now things have just got worse,
my car has just died, it first stuttered and then lost power but still drove
but when i stopped and try to start the car it does not want to know,
it is getting fuel from the tank and the fuel filter but there is no smoke.
no fuel coming out of injector pump, but no warning lights on, on the dash.
anyone ever had this problem.

What engine do you have?

Is it going through the ignition checks ok (immob etc)

hi
it is a 1.9tdi diesel red di
just the usual lights come on
the dash, no extra lights
not sure how the immobliser
shows that is on or off
or how it effects the car bar not letting
the engine to start.

see "Head Gasket" Thread
There is a lot of detail on heating problems (and solutions)- including mine.

ALSO, IF IT IS A DIESEL and outside air temp is around 10C (or lower) START with the AUXILIARY HEATER (see other threads).Easy to identify whether you have the aux heater which heats cabin and brings engine up to temp very quickly. If You crouch on the passenger side, just forward of he rear wheel you will see a small exhaust pipe (like a Honda 50 Bike's). This is the exhaust of the aux. heater.
