Hi - I currrently drive an automatic petrol Honda CRV and have done 88000 miles in the last four years with no problems other than discs and pads. I am considering purchasing a one year old Passat SE 2.0 TDI DSG to replace my CRV. As I am retired and still do approx 20000 a year on remote highland roads and now require an automatic diesel to offset the price of fuel. However I am a bit put off the B6 Passat by the gripes I read in other forums. Should I stick with another CRV or go for a Passat? . . . Regards

Hi,

A difficult question and do we know enough about the size of vehicle you require?

I would suggest a Jetta 2ltre tdi se. Owners seem happier with this model than most passat owners are with theirs. They don't seem to sell so well for some reason and the prices are keener at the dealerships for that reason. The boot room is comparable.:beerchug:

I don't want to nit-pick but this is the same as this post....

PS, I would be wary of a Jetta as a personal purchase - they don't sell well as it's an odd model and it's residuals will be shocking. (I've been told that by my GF's stepbrother who is the VW salesman who sold me my car)
