hello everyone, i have a 1.8t a4 quattro and was thinking of getting a mbc manual boost controller to up the boost abit. has anyone here fitted one of these to there car and does it make a difference?

are they easy to fit? does the n75 valve need to be removed or left in?

cheers for any help or info with this.

i know you leave the N75 at least wired up otherwise the ECU will complain, otherwise i am not sure i iwll check the US forums and report back

hi, ive put the boost controller on the car but ive left the n75 valve piped in. it didnt work so im going to have try again. im going to take all the pipes off the n75 valve but leave it pluged in and just leave the boost valve in the pipe work.

ill let u no if it works.

its the standard boost valve. the ecu controls the boost, this is the pipe off my a4. it shows the n75 valve.

this is how i tryed to do it but it didnt work this way.

this is how im guna try it but leaving the n75 valve plugged in. if you unplug it the boost drops to 5 psi.

do you have a boost gauge? you need one to play around with the boost.

yes i have a boost gauge , it says its running 7-8psi, the highest i can crank it up to is 14psi, so i have read

i have just put my boost controller on like this and it will not run less than 15psi which is too much, i did pull the controller apart and the ball bearing and the spring came out, (what an idoit!:o) and i put the spring in fisrt and then the ball bearing is this the right way? thanks

um the brass fitting should be on your turbo anyway standard.
it depends which controller youve got. the spring should go to the adjuster then the ball at the other end of spring.

as for it running 15psi. ive worked out the on the top of my boost controller its got a arrow with a + and an arrow with a - well i thought if a turned it towards the + id get more boost but its the other way round. if you open you boost controller fully open (+) youll get no boost at all. if you shut it (-) youll get boost. the more you shut it the more boost ull get.

so you need to wind the controller open (+) to get less boost.

the wastegate works on boost. the more boost the wastegate gets the more it shuts. that means the turbo then spins up more. the less boost the wastegate gets the more it stays open the slower the turbo spins up.

i stll havnt got round to doing mine yet but i will.
ive read that i can run 19psi safely. and ive seen people running as much as 26psi, so i would off thought that yours would be ok at 15psi. mines a a4 180bhp model and it runs 10psi standard.

we are both useing the k03 turbos aswel.

let me no how it goes

i have read that if you turn up the boost to more than 12psi you need to do some thing about the heat because everything gets really hot, so if i am running more than 12psi should i do something else to the cooling or is this not nessercery, should i fit a air/fuel ratio meter as well?

im not 100%, im not planning to do anything with my cooling system.
your car has an intercooler and heat shield around the turbo.
i cant see wot else you can do.
you could fit a bigger front mount intercooler. that will cool the air down more and give you more power.
you could probably do with a remap to get more fuel.
if you up the boost to much it will run lean (it wont get enough fuel) which will make the engine run hotter maybe thats wot they mean. if you get a remap it will up the boost and fuel anyway and will then be about 195bhp. then if you up the boost abit more with your controller youll be ok. should get 200-205bhp then.

in your picture you put it in line from the turbo to the accuator, (think i spelt that right!) thats what i done but with a tee section, first the boost wouldn't turn down but i shortened the pipes and that solved the problem, if i get a chance i will get some pictures
