Hi I'm also a new member and I have also just bought a 04 A4 avant sport with factory fitted s-line styling and that has no computer, how rubbish!! Ive upgraded from a 1.9tdi sport passat estate and that had one!
Whats the cost involved to get one???

I don't know the cost involved or anything but, don't blame Audi or anything because it is most possible that the person who bought it brand new didn't tick the on-board computer option. Nearly everything is an option on an Audi so buying a new one can become very expensive!

What I presume your after is the DIS (driver information system) which uses the display in between the speedo & tacho? This can very easily be retrofitted simply by replacing the r/h steering column stalk that controls the wipers for the version with the extra buttons you need. This then needs to be programmed which can be done yourself through vagcom if your up to the challenge! Thats all folks, not an expensive part from an Audi dealer, Vagparts etc etc. Do a search on the site for DIS retrofit and you should come across the in-depth instructions as this has been discussed plenty previously.

Thanks for the advice which is helpful.Don't know that I have the confidence to try it myself so as it seems that it can be done I will ask at the Audi dealer here in Hull for a price which I suspect will be quite expensive.Again thankyou.Steve.

They'll charge you a couple of hours labour i'd expect to do the job which at somewhere in the region £120+VAT per hour wont be cheap! This can be done in under an hour by a decent independant garage that has a suitable diagnostic system. Check for independant VW/Audi/Skoda specialists in your area as they will be a lot cheaper on labour, you can even buy the part for them just to fit it!!
