2.4 D engine will not turn off!

Just as it says.

Turn the ignition to off, take the key out, engine keeps running, after arandom period of time it will stop. Occasionally it will turn off normally.

On cold start the revs drop back as I turn the ignition off, but it keeps running.

It's not smoking so not running on oil from anywhere.

Any ideas?

the cutoff fuel solenoid on the pump is faulty if it is running on when switched to off.
Check the 12volts at pump solenoid first to make sure it is being switched,to me it sounds like the solenoid has become lazy and is not shutting.

We have reached the same conclusion, and the pump solenoid is is in the pump!

It's also sprung a leak from the pump, so I guess it's time to spend some money it.

Most things around the vehicles we can manage ourselves, diesel pump refurbish is not one of them!

Ohhh well hand in the pocket time.

As it's my wifes vehicle (blacked out windows, sign writtten for her business etc) it's worth doing.
