Thats called turbo lag but it should'nt last long! Keep your car over 2000rpm and you should be fine.

if this is due to turbo lag why has it only just started doing it?this car used to pull like a train from 1500 rpm to 4000 rpm if this was a petrol car i would have said it had a dodgy ht lead

It could be that your clutch is slipping. Stick it in 2nd and floor-it and watch the rev counter. If it revs quicker than it accelerate then the clutch is slipping. Any mods or everything is stock ? If stock you may have a unit injector misfiring and the ECU is backing it up. Get the car scanned for fault codes and post them on the forum. Pd engines have an Achiles heel: camshaft and when misfiring occurs that could be done to wear, MAF on its last legs, dirty air and fuel filters or even cambelt strech...! How many miles and how its your driving style ?

Make a note of the faults before erasing them.

Diesels have no throtle body, petrols have ! It could be that the inlet manifold could be partially blocked. Do you stay stuck in traffic with the engine idling ? You could remove the egr valve and if its more than an inch of carbon build-up then remove the manifold and clean thoroughly with carb cleaner and a pressure washer. Is the MAF genuine ?

where abouts is the egr?the maf is from vw costing £112 so it should be genuine the bloke who scanned it took car out and said he did'nt think there was anything wrong with it he said that as i went from fiesta td to golf gt tdi that im now getting used to the golf and finding things wrong with it he could be right but im not so sure he thinks i should take out another gt tdi 150 and if it does them same but there so rare around here!!!thanks for all your help
