Hi everyone
Just bought myself a 1999 Golf GtTdi,very nice too,and was wondering what things to look out for.Every car has its faults and im sure vw is no exception.
Just dont want to be caught out;)

Youll come across the term VAG COM alot on here. Its a diagnostic cable and software you use on your car. It will tell you the faults recorded on the ECU.
best option is to get a scan done, we all have errors showing, but some are intermittant, so nothing to worry about.
If you have a big problem, youe EML will show, so till then enjoy.

I've had 3 Golf TDi's and they have been brilliant cars. The first 2 where 1.9's the 3rd a 2.0. Only issue I ever had was the first needed a new gear box after 36,000 miles. Granted it was only a year old, but it had spent most of its life in 6th on the motorway. Other than that, brilliant cars!
