Hiya Everyone,

I need to change my timing belt on my VW Polo. Called Volkwagen dealership today and they said a timing belt kit will cost £50. Does anyone know of any good websites where you can buy them cheaper?

Also, does it matter what timing belt kit i buy in terms of make. Will they be the same quality? Any make you can recommend?

Beware of cheap belts, chances are that they might be chinese crapp ! 50 quid is cheap for a cambelt kit if it comes with the rollers/tensioners as well ! Look for well known manufacturers: Contitech(Continental), Dayco Pirelli, Goodyear, etc. Audi does NOT produce timing belts, they just sell belts made by someone else in their own package. The same thing is with the tensioners. See Euro Car Parts, GSF, VagParts, etc.

Thanks for the tip. Do you know who manufactures the VW timing belt kits?

Here is a contitech one i found:

but i think the prices is too low for it to be quality...Any ideas?

Some are made by Dayco, some by Pirelly. Tensioners are all made in Canada by a big company, dont remember exactly the name but i can find out ! Contitech belts are good quality, though.
