vagcom fault code - cant sync baud rate

hi folks

can anyone help with this fault code


i am getting this message when trying to connect to a 1.6 audi a3 on a 98 plate.

whilst on 01 engine the only options being displayed are for fault codes 02 - the cable and the software work on my other cars so i think it could be a problem with the comms with the engine controller ecu.


any thoughts much appreciated
