cant start with maf on....

hi every 1,my car is golf 4 gti 1999 and the problem is it doesnt start when the air flow sensor is connected but does start after disconecting it.
does this mearn i shud replace the amf?

Sound like the MAF is causing the problem.

Only way to be sure is to borrow or buy a new MAF.

i've never heard of a MAF preventing startup, perhaps a fault reading is required, but as above really, if it's stopping the car from starting when plugged in, but removed allows the car to start, it's pretty obvious what to do :beerchug:
