Oil leak problem

Hi, I'm looking for some advice.
My 2002 Passat 1.8T Sport has developed a slow oil leak. It has been to three garages and none of them seem to be able to identify where the oil is coming from, only that it is high up on the engine. The usual seals have been replaced but to no avail.
Any advice is appreciated.

:( I also have a 1.8T Sport but a X reg 2000, it also appears to have a minor oil leak high up on the engine block forward of the dip stick.

It looks to me like its coming from a flat profile plastic pipe that appears to be a push fit into the block at the end nearest the front and bolted on slightly higher up but further back on the block at the other end - No idea what its for? apart from myabe taking oil from one part of the engine to another??

According to a bill I got with the car it had its oil cooler replaced but I don't know if this is related or not.

Anyone else got any ideas???
