Hi All,

As the title really,

How long can I leave the ignition of my 1.9TDI switched on while I play with VAG-COM?

Bit worried that electricals will overheat if left on without running the engine.

My first car was an Austin 1300 in teal blue:biglaugh:

Mine was a 1969 beige colour.

Can't remember the name even though I must have bought hundreds of rattle cans of paint (and filler) to prevent it becoming rust brown.

Those were the days:D

There will be no overheating in any VW/Audi models just because the ignition is on, but sooner or later you will drain the battery. In general I'd say an hour with ignition on is what I'd do max. The suggestion is though to connect a battery charger if you do long time operations... ;)

P.S.: We've had cars in our lot for testing purposes which were connected to a charger over month and didn't get driven much at all, sometimes the ignition was on 24/7... ;)
