Hi there - New to this forum: I recently bought a Passat 1.8T Sport.

Generally very happy with the car - but I have a few questions about the engine/gearbox which I shall get round to posting some time soon.

For starters though - I've noticed that the electric radiator cooling fan is almost always on, no matter what type of driving I've been doing. Is this normal?

Cheers!

Hi are you sure it is not the AC fan you are talking about

Err - don't think so - not 100% though. There are two fans behind the radiator. One is driven by a belt and permanently turning, the other has an electric motor. Its the one with the electric motor that is often running and I assumed it should only really kick in when stuck in traffic/hot day, etc - not after a gentle run with 10 degree air temp.

Turn your climate control off and the fan will stop.
