My 1996 B4 Passat TDI 1.9l Estate wagon is starting to give me grief when I try to go into 1st & reverse gear. I can generally work around it by pressing the stick down.
This seems to happen only after the car has really warmed up in traffic of after highway driving @200 Kkm or so.
Could the problem be that the gearbox oil needs changing or does it need to have the shift selector adjusted?
The Bentley manual does state that it must be synthetic gear oil.
