OK, so i've got the golf in being repaired at the moment under warranty, something went wrong on the turbo intake system apparently, not convinced myself, but anyway. issue is, before i dropped it off, i was managing to get just 35mpg, is this the sort of mileage i should expect? i thought it would be closer to 45/50 mpg in urban, and about 60/70 on the mways? or am i being too hopeful?

I get 50 mpg and thats a 1.9 TDI 110bhp AFN audi. if that helps. 35mpg is rubbish it might as well be a 1.8T petrol at that mpg.

Hi, i have a mk 4 tdi 150 and get approx 40mpg with a heavy right foot and up to 60 with a light foot on motorways. You should definantly get more than 35 mpg but 70 might be a little optimistic.

I manage to average between 50-52 MPG (depending on how heavy my foot is and whether I have the Climatronic on) in a Golf IV GT TDI 130 for a 40 mile round trip commute on motorway/A roads, and occasional shorter trips. 35MPG sounds a bit poor. My last car, with a normally aspirated 1.8 petrol engine averaged about that...
