Is it from the autochanger?

Hi Mike,

No, it's a single disc system. Hope you can help mate.

Mine is an autochanger so I don't know how the single one works. Some CD players have a detachable facia and behind that you may find a small hole that you can poke an opened up paperclip into and push the CD out.

If that don't work try sliding a thin putty knife into the slot and gently wigling it around. Try both above and below the stuck disc, this can sometimes free the disc.

If that does not work try wrapping some gaffer tape tightly and thinly around a putty knife with the sticky side out. The taper of the knife should stop the gaffer tape coming off. Put some paper on one side to prevent that side sticking, then carefull stick the knife to the disc and try to pull it out. Don't get the tape stuck in there too.

You will probably ruin the disc and don't attempt this if you fear the player may be damaged. I accept no responsibility for any of these methods but have been succesful with the thin knife in the past.

The safest way to remove the disc is take it to a ICE specialist and pay them to get it out.

Good luck

I have had a stuck cd before in a single slot mech and found after resetting the unit it has ejected, if yours doesnt have a reset button or reset function in the owners manual i would remove the unit from the dash and (providing you have the anti theft code to reactivate the stereo) unplug the power and leave it for 10 mins. This may reset the functions.
When you press the eject button do you hear the motors trying to eject the cd or does nothing happen at all?

Good Luck

Hi Guys. All is well now, I tried using the thin / butter knife approach and after a few twiddles and cursing the CD ejected. I might upgrade to ipod compatible system, do you guys know of any good ones out there ? Anyway thanks for the previous replies.

glad you got sorted, i have a pioneer deh-p4900ib single cd with ipod lead connecton fitted in my works van and it works well, the control of the ipod is much quicker than my mates alpine which also needs a seperate interface box for the ipod.
