Hi,
I have a 120 bhp 2.0TDI A3 Sport 04/04 plate with 73k.

At the lights, the tick over is quite lumpy, with the rev needle dipping below 800rpm as the car sort of shudders.

Any advice anyone as to how this can be rectified or is it nothing to worry about and just due to the mileage of the car?

I am also having a problem with the tail lights.
They are taking turns to blow and are a right pain in the **** to change.

Thanks for any help you may give me.

You need to get a fault code read done.

Thanks for your reply.

There are no lights on the dash, will there still be a fault code?
My nearest Audi dealer is miles away, will a VW dealer be able to do it?

The tick over problem isn't constant, just at regular intervals when waiting at the lights for example.

A VW dealer can do it but may refuse as they aren’t supposed to do it. Any well equipped garage should be able to do a fault code read. It may not have a code stored but it is the starting point for all diagnostic work and no code with symptoms is still informative.

Not the clutch as such but the Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF).

Is the DMF an expensive/involved job?
What happens if I don't get it done?

It can be very expensive depending on where you get it done and where the parts come from. What is your car and year or better still, PM me the reg number.
