worsening knock from front wheel

98,000 miles car has been driving faultless but approx 2 weeks ago started hearing noise from drivers side front axle , especially when going over speed bumps(always slow) , ,gradually getting more prominent like somebody has hit the underneath of axle with hammer,,happens if driving along 30/40mph then take foot off accelerator , any ideas passat fans?

Take a look at ur anti roll bar drop arms (ally arm which goes from front lower arm to anti roll bar)and also the strut lower bush which also lives in the middle of the front lower arm. Ed
