Mk IV Golf - rear washer

I have a 1.6 petrol Golf. Should it have a rear washer as standard? I can push the wiper stalk forward, to activate the rear washer, but nothing happens. Is mine broken? Or is it simply not there?!

my mate has the same car and he has a rear washer on his. when you say its not working what do you mean? does the wiper turn but no fluid?

i'd check the fuses first. if that is ok, then check the nozzle isn't blocked. if that is also ok, the pipe that connects to the rear washer jet may have come off (common fault with mk4 golf's it seems - has just happened to mine!), in which case you will need to take off all the interior tailgate trim and have a look. this link may help...

Thanks. Yes, the wiper turns but there is no fluid. I will investigate!

Is the boot floor wet? Does water come out of the tailgate when you open it?
