Hi,

I'm looking at getting one of the VW Ipod Link Adaptors but wondered how easy it is to fit into a Mk 5 Golf? I know it goes in the glove box but does the stereo or any trim panels have to be removed.

Just like to have some idea before I commit, don't want to end up with half the dash off and having no idea how to put it back!

Thanks

Does your CD player have "mp3" above the slot?

Because if it does you can play a MP3 CD, create yourself a MP3 CD in a CD writing package, such as Nero or EZCD creator using your MP3 music tracks on your computer.

Because it's a lot cheaper (£0) and you can still have the music you want, albeit in a slightly more restricted form, you can get approx 200 tracks on 1 CD depending on the encoding rate (128kbps) & CD capacity, that means 1 x MP3 CD could last >9hrs!

When I fitted one to my A3 I had to remove the Stereo and Glove Box.

The glove box was really easy to remove. I drilled a hole in the back of the box to allow the cable through - you get a grommet for the cable.

It's really hard to see it when it's all back in place.

The cable is really long as well.

Other places to put the iPod are in the armrest if you have one. More trim will have to be removed though.
