1997 VW Polo radio reception problem

Hi all i am having problems with my VW polo i have just installed a new radio and am having problems receiving radio stations like radio 1 & radio 2. But its not a problem receiving local radio stations.

I have tried the amplifier that plugs into the back of the radio but the does nothing. I have even tried a new Ariel, one with a amplifier in.

So any ideas?

What stereo have you installed ? and have you tried on the FM3 band , i found that wiyth my sony head i can only get radio 1 and 2 etc through the Fm3 channels

Its a panasonic radio and CD. I will try the FM 3 band thing, but i don't think that will solve it.

Tried tunning in stations on FM3 but its still the same. Any other ideas?
