I have had my 95/96 A4 1.6 petrol saloon for 3 years now, loverly car. A problem has occured which has flumixed me. My car was working fine then just cut out at a junction and would not restart, wouldn't even turn over, not even a click noise. Pushed it to the road side and went back for it later where a tow start got me going again and home. Changed starter motor and battery but, this is the strange bit, when I first connect the battery the car starts and all is fine, but when I turn it off and then try to start it again the imobiliser cuts the engine out. If I disconnect the battery, discharge the system by turning the ignition or lights on then off, reconnect the battery it works again (until I turn it off again). It's not really practical disconnecting and reconnecting the battery every time I want to use the car.
Anyone with any ideas?
