audi 80 electrical power loss

Hi, recent problem with Audi 80 estate (M reg) showed good charge from alternator but battery (new in August) goes flat after 5 - 6 hours of engine stopped. Foolishly followed AA advice that approx 4 amps earth leakage was alternator and replaced that. Fault still apparent but now told that may be ignition switch as sometimes not all panel lights come on. Anyone had similar and have good advice on what part of ignition switch needs changing?
