speedo/tacho problems on my inca

hello,
i have just joined your group to see if anyone could help me.
my problem is my speedo and tacho have just stopped working, i gather there must be a transmitter on the engine or g/box,but i cannot locate it.
or maybe a fuse.i am stumped.cheers.

my problem is with a vw t4, it only works now and again... whats your vehicle?

it`s probably similar.there is a sender on the gearbox,which is possibly the problem but it wasn`t on mine unfortunatly it cost me £22 for the part.it`s worth checking fuse if you haven`t allready,there would be something else not working as well if this were the case,check manual to see what else is on that fuse.if not that,best to take to a specialist garage to plug it into computer which is what i`m going to have to do.i`ve been checking it out and it`s looking like£35 just to do that,without any repairs or parts it might need:confused:

cheers mate,i hope it is the sender because being stuck on this this little rock in the middle of the atlantic,namely "Lanzarote", there isn`t much chance of finding a diagnostic machine ou.t here.but now you have told me where to look,i stand at bit more chance of fixing it.

no worries,
it might be a good idea to check the wires coming from it just to make sure there`s no obvious problems with them,like anything burnt out or broken.
