Hello to all,
I have a 98TDI auto saloon which has boring steel wheels with trims. I wonder if any of the learned forumites could tell me what size alloys I would require to fit my car, I have not a clue as to which stud size (pcd?) to go for. I would like to get original VW or Audi wheels as I dont want it to look out of place, just to spruce it up a bit!.

Hi mate, you will need 5*112 pcd with an offset around 35, most audi wheel will fit just check the pcd before buying as some older audis were 5*110
I'm on 18" audi a3 s line rims which had an offset of 55 so i had to put 20mm spacers on mine. you don't want a much lower offset then 35 as they will stick out too much

i think this is right but if not someone will correct me

Just changed mine for RS6 replicas from AutoSport in Bolton Lancs.

They 17"x7.5" with 225/45x17 tyres. This keeps the overall diameter the same as your 195/65x15 tyres/rims

See this (http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html) to work out what sizes you can use to keep the diameter similar.

Take a look at this (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/holden2/cars/others/images/IMGP0044.JPG), this (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/holden2/cars/others/images/IMGP0043.JPG) and this :beerchug: (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/holden2/cars/others/images/IMAGE_130.jpg)

Thanks for the replies I a little less in the dark now!. But, what exactly does PCD stand for?. I like the calculator link, thats smart:Blush:.
Now, anyone know of any wheels for sale within sensible distance of Cornwall?& very reasonable in the price dept of course!!

Cpt shed, I have an original set of alloys that fit your passat. your welcome to have them if your prepaired to collect them. One of them has curb damage and the other three are fine. The tyres on them are all rubbish but for free they may well be what you are looking for.;)

The only problem is I live just outside milton keynes, not that close to you but there here if you want them. Just collecting dirt in the gargen at the moment + the wife nagging me to remove them. I'm sure I still have the centre caps in the garage, will look for them later.

Many thanks for the replies, in particular to cheekyboy for your kind offer, I think M/Keynes is a little too far to for me. Why dont you get 'em on Fleabay and then you can get some more dosh to lavish on your car:p. Or to win browny points flog 'em & treat swmbo to something nice;).

eibach springs, its approx 40mm lower and coupled with the 18" wheels it looks great although with the 225/40 profile tyres it can be a bit harsh on rough roads:( also on full lock the tyres can rub on the inner arch.
but after 5 subaru imprezas its still a joy to drive;)

The offset for 97-00 Passats is ET45. I changed my adelaides for original montreals recently, they look great to me (at 16 inches). There's not that many options if you go for the ET45 offset, the later passats are ET37.

Good link for pictures of original passat wheels here
