hi to everyone, need help is possable ,i have got vw caddy van 1.9d 1997 but need to change the diesel pump is it possable to use a secound hand one or is it coded to the ecu if so is there a way round the codeing many thanks darren.

Yes, the pump is coded.

Not that I know of, it's no big deal if you have VAG-COM.

The ECU is in the pump, you would need the donor vehicles immobiliser unit and the chip out of the ignition key.

hi , thanks for your help ,sorted it today,i smashed the immoberlizer bit of the back of the pump and then ran a wire to the solinoid works a treat.

Is that a diesel or a petrol, mine is diesel I never saw a solonoid in it?

ahh this sounds like my problem ..see my post caddy v reg 1.9sdi........i have fited a new 2nd hand pump on and i get no response from the throttle.. does anyone have a wee diagram to show me how to do this fix?
