A4 shake during acceleration

'03 A4 V6 3.0 44,000 miles - Upon acceleration, my A4 begins to vibrate noticeably at 20mph. As speed increases and gas pedal remains depressed, the vibration turns into a shaking. It is at it's worst around 50-60mph. When I let up on the pedal, shake goes away...depress and the shake comes back. I can also hear a faint knocking. Please help!:aargh4:

Ignoring the shaking, does the engine sound rough or down on power at all when your driving or just stood still? Could well be a misfire commonly caused by a coil pack failure, which is a cheap fix. Other less likely causes could be a flywheel problem or worn engine mounts. Dont drive it and get a vagcom diagnosis done on the car, this will show up if its a misfire which i'd put 20p on you needing a new coil pack!
