About 8 months ago i had a coolant leak. I took it to my local bloke who put some sealant around the cap or something and this seemed to fix it. I've just noticed it's leaking again. He did recommend replacing the header tank cap but i never got round to it.

I'm far from a car expert  so was just wondering how the cap could cause the leak? I'm hoping this is the problem as i take it replacing the cap is no hardship?

It's an Audi A4 1.8t quattro, can anyone recommend a parts place? not sur how much these are.

Thanks in advance for any comments

There is pressure behind the cap and if it doesn’t seal, it will leak.

Ok, thanks, but the leak doesn't seem to be coming from around the cap? which is why i can't quite get my head around it!

It comes up around the cap where you can't see it and then out of a little overflow channel.

Appreciate your response. Just had a new clutch and 4 new tyres so the last thing i need is anymore problems. Will get a new cap. Any idea on price?

Thanks again

Funnily enough that is when it changed and the part number is 8E0 121 321. It costs £6.25 from any Audi dealer.
