Hi All
Have an Audi Avant 1.8T Multitronic 60,000 miles.
Have read many articles about excessive oil consumption on 1.8T and 2.4V6 models. Has anyone had any independent advice, (Non VAG dealership), on the cause of excessive oil consumption on this engine.
Mine has used about 5-6 gallons in 16,000 miles, is worse in town driving where multitronic keeps engine 1400-1600 rpm on feather throttle. And now the oil fumes are entering the ventilation system.

Try replacing/reconditioning your turbocharger. How many miles on it ? there is no way a car would burn so much oil in such mileage, there is something wrong there, worn rings, turbocharger, etc.

Engine has always used this much oil since run-in. I would be surprised if worn bearings/seals in turbo or piston rings as I have owned car since new and have looked after it, with mixed driving, fast motorway and town. Other articles found with search engine also show high oil consumption for this engine. "Burns oil to cool and lubricate valves" seems very unlikely an explanation in a modern engine design.
