Hi- (happy new year to all),
my golf mk5 2.0 gt-tdi is currently on the longlife service schedule and is due a service within the next month. In the 2yr period I will only have covered approx 12k miles.
I'm just after some advise as I'm wondering if it is worth me staying on the 2yr/20k serice or moving to a 1yr 10k service. The reason being that I've read on some sites about people changing their oil a lot more frequently e.g. ever 5000miles to benefit the engine/turbo etc. I'm thinking that having the same oil in for 2yrs will give it time to build up deposits & degrade and not protect the engine as well. In addition, most of my driving is to/from work- usually at no more than 30... Basically for what it might cost extra in getting it seen to ever year I'd rather do this than risk damaging the car.
Any thoughts?
Also- can anyone recommend a good garage in the Newcastle area?
