Windows go Down but not up

I have a problem with my 95 VW Golf my windows will go down but they do not go up. When I hit the button to go down i can hear the motor working but when i try to go up there is nothing. So I have no clue what to do. I ripped off the door panel hoping to find a loose wire or something but no luck any help would be grateful.

Peel back the rubber conduit boot between the door and the body and check for broken wires.
