I have a S Reg 2.5 Tdi that has an oil leak. The Audi specialist I took it to changed the cam belt when it developed an oil leak. He took it back for 3 weeks and changed 2 cam boxes and various gasket sets, used sealant on the cambox when finally the leak appeared to have stopped. About 4 weeks after it was finally fixed, the leak started again. WOuld anyone know what the problem may be. I am reluctant to take it back because he will probably get sick of me. Many thanks. Len

have they changed the crankcase breathers as they can choke and cause back pressure!?? forcing the oil out the rocker gaskets. just a thought!!

These engines are terrible for oil leaks but it is usually the breather unit in the middle of the "V".

Thanks Crasher. So would changing the cambelt have anything to do with starting the oil leak, because I am 100% sure that it was not there before the change. I am always looking in the engine under it etc.

Unless the leak is coming from the very rear of the right bank (as viewed from inside the car) I don’t see how changing the cam belt could introduce it.

Right got an update. Andy at A4 Audi has told me that the cam studs he has used are probably too short and are not tightening enough. SO he has ordered me longer ones which will stop the leak.. I will let you know how it goes. Lenny

Well they have changed the studs to the longer ones and I have looked under the car this morning and there is a small spot of oil in the floor which is less than usual. SO it may may be the excess thats still in the engine cover thingy under the engine. Fingers crossed eh

Well almost 2 weeks after the job was done and it would seem that the oil leak has stopped to the longer studs worked which is nice.
