i we just got our sharan 1996 2lt and where you turn the heater on there is a green light that come on when you push the button in ,is this the aircon i have no user manual so i dont really know whats its for :confused:

YES!!! This is your air-con. Put it on cold and press the button. The green light now shows. If you don't get ice cold air after a while when driving then it doesn't work. They cost a fortune to fix and aren't weren't bothering with. If it does work then make sure you switch it on once a week all through the winter. Otherwise it won't work for long! I have just bought one myself (1998 2.0s)
