hi i have a 8v 2l gti mk3 golf whitch i had some probs with when i got it since then replaced ditributor cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs, fuel filter, and ignotion coil. this sorted the ploblem out "coil was shot" since then its ran like a dream until a week ago it runs fine when its cold of a good 20+ miles when i stop turn off ignition and start again while enguine is still warm it cuts out while im going along. need some advise .WHATS GOIN ON : (:zx11: also same as other guy who posted just after me car wont start for bit when it has cut out but if i just leave it 25mins n have my interior fan on (to pinch some of the heat ) it will run fine

try coolant temp sensor, quite a common fault

I would agree. If you read the hanyes manual there is a simple test you can do to test the coolant temp sensor.

It could be a faulty hall sender in the distributor. I would suggest a fault code read but finding someone with the 2x2 plug adapter is not easy.

They still sell those on ebay! But it might be serial connector.

The 2x2 adapter I use on my USB VAG-COM cable is still the one I bought many years ago for my first VAG-COM serial cable when I ran 2. something or other.
