Hi everyone, this is a great forum.

I found it while I was looking for information on a car I'm thinking of buying.

I saw a very nice silver 98'R' A4 1.9TDI Quattro for sale, it seems to be very looked after with no expense spared.

Its coming upto 110k and just had a full service with cambelt kit and some work done to the front suspention to cure a knocking noise at low speed.

Its up for £4000 which I believe is a tad over priced?

I'll be swaping it for my much loved 2005 MG ZS TDI with 37k which is worth about £4500.

Just looking for general advice really, will this car have plenty of life left in it? Is there anything in particular i ned to check?

When I test drove it is felt brilliant.

All help and advice greatly appreciated.

Sorry for essay of a post.

Rob

Thats from What Car magazines web site, the £4k price tag should get you the same car from a dealer on a V plate.
As far as the 110,000 miles on the clock goes, as long as the car has been serviced correctly then the diesal engine should outlast almost any equivelant car on the road, it's only just run in. I came across plenty of 200K, one at 340K and even a monster 412K miler in my search for an A4.
Seems like the likely "bad points" have been dealt with on this one, suspension, belts etc... check the clutch with a stall test if the peddle is high as they are quite high on some VAG's anyway. Make sure that the heater performs as it should and if you get hold of a VAG COM cable and software then check the car for recorded faults, if they take offence of deny you this then ask yourself what they have to hide. Audi build quality is great so look for door/panel/bumper alignment, they will all be bob on with an undamaged Audi. Look through the history and old receipts for bodywork repairs or a peak in parts being replaced around the same timeframe.
Hope that helps.
