Think the girlfriends Polo has done the dirty on me! Slight 'mayo' under the oil filler cap and the coolant has lots of bubbles in the expansion tank!

It's only an R reg 1.6 manual with 120k on the clock. Are these engines prone to head faults or can i hope its just the gasket.:zx11:

Slight mayo on the back of the oil cap is not a problem; it just needs a good thrashing and warming up, the car that is-not the girlfriend! Apart from bubbles in the coolant tank, are there any problems? Bubbles coming in via the top 7-mm ID bleed hose are quite normal, if they are bubbling up via the lower hose, that isn't normal.

Not sure which hose at the moment, but it is losing coolant, somewhere.

Cleaned under cap, ran engine until warm and rad fan came on, checked cap and showed signs of mayo. Released expansion cap and coolant was foamy? Exhaust was still steamy which should have cleared, but its difficult to tell in this cold weather.

Might have to take it for a spin and check things over.
