Frontt engine mounting

I have a Mk2 gti 16v. When changing starter motor over weekend due to strange noise noted front engine mounting that appears to be forge cast with gearbox has snapped. Does anyone know if it can be welded back on or is it a new gera box or housing or whatever, help please
