We just got back from a trip to see family and other things.. We were gone 7 days.. Drove 6 of them.. It was a real chance to see how the new 06 Jetta 2.5 does on the road..

In eastern Oregon and northern Nevada we ran down the 2 lane roads at 100 to 125 mph.. Put in 300 miles in 3 hrs and 8 min.. The car held the road like a dream.. This was not straight roads so was making corners at 100 +.. And slowing where there were crest in the road and we could not see what was ahead.. The car always has throttle left even at 125 mph.. But never had a straight long enough to see the 130 mark.. All the 2.5 US cars are governed at 130.. As are all other cars.. They have to slow us down so the cops can catch us.. Grin..

Most of the rest of the trip thru Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Calif were made at about 80 mph.. About half of that was on the freeways..

We were surprised to see we could put in long days and not be tired from riding.. Longest day was 750 miles from Durango Colorado to Barstow Calif.. Thru Laughlin Nevada..

Over all fuel mileage was 30.1 .. Not to bad as I had my foot in it much of the time.... Best tank was 35.5 going thru New Mexico on a two lane thru the Navaho Indian area.. Did not want to see the inside of one of their local jails .. Grin..
