I’m new to the site and need some serious HELP! :1zhelp:

I bought a lovely Audi TT 250BHP last summer and within 1 week someone had stabbed a hole in the soft top – sounds horrible but it wasn’t that big and I’ve put gaffer tape on the inside and it’s waterproof (I can hear a collective gasp of horror from all the TT fans). It rained all winter and was completely sound and waterproof. Then out of the blue I started getting condensation in the boot now it’s spread to the inside of the car and the inside of the window screen is soaking and the headlights mist up too.

With this recent frost I have icicles on the inside of the roof and the windscreen takes ages to clear. The leather seats, carpet etc… everything else is fine.

My poor car stinks and I’m fighting daily with the mold.

The roof is being replaced in Jan with at an Audi garage but my gut feeling is the damp inside the car and the boot is not related to the torn roof?

I read about the clogged drains (Brad) but I don’t have a problem with damp on the seats or carpet.

Any help before I end up having to drive around in a snorkel!

I am not familiar with the drains on TT's, I've got an A3 and had Golfs before that. But one good way to check for leaks is sit in the car whilist a friend runs a hose over it. Check and make sure all door and boot seals are in good condition and are not split or miss shaped. Check any crommets in the engine bay that run through the bulkhead to make sure they are in place and make a good seal.
Hope you get it sorted. I hate water getting in to cars!

Thanks for the advice. I've tried that and I get my car valeted once a week so I would know if it leaking somewhere.

I think it's something a bit more technical and as usual with TT's it's stopped doing it for now!

I guess I'll just have to go down the rip off, useless technician route.

Thanks!

Hi
Just registered with this site because I`m also having terrible problems with condensation in my Audi TT quattro. It can be dry for days then suddenly the windscreen is misty, the boot is drenched and even the cd player is damp and stops working.
Audi say its not a known problem, must be a leak but this happens when its been sunny!
Can anyone help please? Jan :(

the door seals in my tt are extremely bad where the window is supposed to go against.. maybe worth a look there?

I have a similar problem in my 2003 roadster. Passenger side carpets are very wet and condensation now pretty bad with mold smell. Icicles forming this weather.

I have removed seats and dried out thoroughly including lower section in the boot, but I fail to see where it is coming in.

Its as though there is a pipe leaking that runs through the floor as hgher up all is dry except the boot section previously mentioned. Drivers side more or less ok.

We too have had bad condensation in the boot. The padding in the lid is wet and most of the internal padding is wet. We have investigated today.
Removing the spare wheel we found about 2 inches of water. So we removed the plugs in the bodywork and got rid of it. Where is this water coming from the seals are all ok is the water a building of condensation.
I say its because my husband puts his wet golf stuff in the boot and leaves it there.
Any suggestions. We are now going to check under the spare wheel each week.

My water ingress problem disappeared for quite a few weeks then returned last week. No extra rain at the time so still mystified.
