I've relatively recently replaced the interior fan balast resistor pack when my last one blew.

The new one has just gone, and I believe its' the 160kOhm resistor at the end of the pack....

Can I just replace this with a 160kOhm one from Maplin (since the power is relatively low)

Anyone done this???

Hi Rob it begs the question why is it blowing? Is the fan free to rotate?

The 12v feed for speed 4 (i.e a full 12v across the fan) bypasses the resistor balast pack. The fan rotates fine, but having full speed or nothing is not actually that useful in winter... lol

The only faulty part of the ballast pack is the resistor which is soldered across between pin 1 and 4 (i.e. low speed "1" position and max speed "4" position)

Since the unit generates masses of heat, i suspect it is a thermal failure ....
