Fix for volume fault?

Hey,

To save me splashing out an a new stereo!

is there a fix for the volume knob fault? It seems to be worse when its cold and its really annoying! Whenever I touch the volume control for the first time after starting her up, the volume either goes off completley or goes on full blast! Not fun in the morning! Sometimes it wont sort itself until the cabin is warm.

Anyone know any fixes?
