ASR experience

I understand the theory behind the ASR feature but want to better understand what this translates into when driving with the ASR engaged. Should the driver notice a difference in performance during "normal" driving conditions or would I only really see the benefit of ASR when adding some gas on uneven road surfaces, cambers or in adverse driving conditions?
